ibrahim is a descendant of black pioneers. Prior to his birth his parents embraced Islam and radically changed their diet. He eats totally different than his grandparents. He was born in the middle of a blizzard.
In 1995 he received 10 offers to play football in college and decided upon the University of Rhode Island because of its proximity to the ocean. Since giving the senior speech at his graduation and starting four years at linebacker he has been a mover, a youth worker, activist, social movement historian, web 2.0 maven, freelance writer, blogger and lover of the Earth. His father would always say that the "earth is a mosque" which basically means: everything is sacred. That love of nature permeates his life's work with youth and adults connecting them to their planet. Currently he is a National Urban Fellow and MPA candidate at Baruch College where he is researching the future of green building and the harnessing of new energy solutions for urban areas.
In 2001 he was the chief researcher of and contributing editor to the Future 500, a directory cataloging progressive youth organizing nationwide that has since grown to a searchable online database (
Future5000.com) and a social networking website (MyBloc.net). He was a principal architect of both sites. A former Outward Bound instructor, poet, and a founding member of the Rude Movements parties at NYC's famed APT club. He is just like his mother who he grew up watching host large outdoor concerts in Brooklyn.
Ibrahim is, as his mother often says, an Ancestor in training.
